People have offered many potential explanations for this discrepancy, but this ad highlights the importance of the social cues that push girls away from math and science in their earliest childhood years.

Watch the powerful Verizon advertisement to really understand what a little girl hears when you tell her she’s pretty.

this is why i’m raising ella to do whatever makes her happy. i believe in skinned knees, dirty hands, climbing as high as she can, the curiosity of space and how everything works. i will never let her believe that being a girl is holding her back from anything. i will never get tired of her asking, “what’s that?” or sitting with her for 15 minutes while she watches how machinery works in our every day adventures, as i do my best to explain what it all means. this is important. my patience in her curiosity and ability to achieve has already made a huge impact in her life. ella will be 2 years old on friday and already tells herself, “i got it” when faced with a new challenge and “i did it!” when she accomplishes it.

raise your daughters to be self-aware beyond their looks. raise your daughters to always be curious. raise your daughters to work hard. raise your daughters to have passions that make them happy. raise your daughters to be whatever the fuck they want to be.

This is so important

My daughters will be amazing!!

We don’t need European fairy tales retold with dark-skinned characters

We need non-European fairy tales being told

Race-bending isn’t the answer here

Realizing that there are children who have non-European heritages and cultures who need their own stories being given representation is the answer

The original story of the little mermaid is that she must kill the prince in order to be human, and in the end, she loves him too much and kills herself instead.

The artwork is too great not to reblog.

Ok, ok - important expansion: she only has to kill the Prince because the deal was if he fell in love with her she could be human forever, and he didn’t. By which I mean, he was a good person and genuinely nice to her, but he didn’t fall in love. He fell in love with someone else, also perfectly nice - not the seawitch in disguise, fu Disney. The Mermaid is told she can only return to the sea now if she kills the Prince. She goes into the room where he and his lover lie sleeping and they look so beautiful and happy together that she can’t do it.

That’s why she kills herself. And because it was a noble act she returns to sea as foam.

One moral of the story was that women shouldn’t fundamentally change who they are for love of a man, and in theory Han Christian Anderson wrote it for a ballerina with whom he fell in love. She was marrying someone else who wouldn’t let her dance.

Holy shit

Well shit man

True shit

As Paul Mooney would say “I was born yesterday BUT I stayed up all night GODDAMNIT! “

European’s have been segregating themselves from everyone else for centuries now. Why? To uphold White supremacy. Reasons? Genetic survival. Europeans are actually a minority on earth. Now you can’t have the majority Europeans mixing with colored people because that would eliminate whiteness. That’s breaking number one rules of white supremacy. You must be white.

Calling Europe a continent contradicts the definition of what is it to be a continent. I’m guessing it was a political move made to keep White separate from the rest of the world. Learn to think critically, be skeptic, and don’t just accept what you have been taught.

In 4th grade, When we had to label the map I just put Asia with the same argument. My teacher said, “I’m not marking it wrong because you were right but I can’t teach y’all that.”

Paul is life!!!
